The American Dissident is funded by the editor and contributor subscriptions and donations. To date, it has not received, despite successive grant applications, any financial assistance from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Concord Cultural Council, or National Endowment for the Arts, which evidently view it as harmful to the status quo. The Poetry Foundation, Chronicle of Higher Education, NewPages, and Poets & Writers refuse to even list the journal on their websites next to other journals listed.
