Compare the grantees for 2003 with those for 2004 in the article on the right (enlarge it).  The pattern is more than evident.  Note the same grantees for both years.  The following article was taken from the Concord Cultural Council website.

The Concord Cultural Council recently named its grant recipients for the 2003-2004 grant cycle. Twenty-three grant applications, totaling $11,266 in requests, were submitted by the Oct. 15, 2003, deadline to the Council. Seven were approved, totaling $2,200 in grants awarded by the Concord Cultural Council. They are: Alcott School (PASS Grant) - $200; Alcott SchooL - $310; Pan Van Chan - $400; Concord Middle School - $500; Discovery Museum - $150; Minute Man Arc for Human Services - $300; and Elyse O'Connor - $340.

The Alcott School kindergarten received a PASS Grant of $200 to partially fund tickets for a play performed at the Concord Youth Theater and a grant of $310 for partial funding of the Cashore Marionettes, a presentation for all students at the Alcott School.

Pan Van Chan received a grant of $400 to help underwrite the costs for his performances with other musicians at the Old Manse on Sunday afternoons throughout this coming summer.

The Concord Middle School was granted $500 to defray costs of a program entitled, "The Language that Shaped the World," to be presented in the spring

The Discovery Museum was awarded $150 for a program entitled "Interactive Theater" that will be held for children ages two to 10 in collaboration with the towns of Acton and Stow.

Minute Man Arc for Human Services was granted $300 to provide chorus lessons.

Elyse O'Connor was awarded $340 to give four musical performances at various locations for seniors.

The Concord Cultural Council, which oversees the awarding of grant monies given to Concord by the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), received $2,000 from the MCC this year. The additional $200 was taken from unencumbered money allowed in FY '03.

Because of reduced state funding for the MCC that was enacted in 2002, and that continued through the 2003-2004 grant cycle, the Council determined that special consideration again would be given to Concord-based artists/presenters, especially those who had not made a grant application to the Council previously. Programs for all age groups in music, dance, visual arts, poetry, literature, drama, the humanities and scientific interpretation that benefit the Concord community are considered. Artists/organizations that have received grants for three consecutive years are given a lower priority, and grant applicants have to have an additional source of funding in order to be considered for a grant.

The Concord Cultural Council awards arts lottery and PASS program grants. Lottery grants support cultural programs in Concord schools, in senior citizen centers and in the community at large. PASS grants offer ticket subsidies for school groups to attend cultural events and exhibits.

Concord Cultural Council members are: Elizabeth Berk and Charlotte Wright, co-chairs; Kate Bird, Craig Dunn, Patsy Eickelberg, Jennifer Gillespie, Carol Haines, Jennifer Jacoby and Nancy Joroff.
